WE'RE LOOKING FOR A

CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

£50,000 per annum | Permanent | Full time | Isle of Mull

What could you make possible from an island?

An Tobar and Mull Theatre is looking for an exceptional Chief Development Officer to join our senior leadership team and help shape the next chapter of one of Scotland's most distinctive multi-artform organisations.

We are rooted in our island community and connected to national and international conversations. We believe rural and island places are not peripheral to culture, but central to its future.

Fundraising and development sit at the heart of this role. You will personally lead our trusts, foundations and institutional fundraising, including responsibility for an annual target of around £250,000, while developing new opportunities for philanthropy, partnership and income generation.

But the role goes further. Working as the principal executive partner to our Artistic Director & Chief Executive, you will help strengthen how we work as an organisation, support and develop our managers, identify new commercial and partnership opportunities, and help turn ambitious future capital projects into credible, fundable plans.

You do not need to have spent your career in the arts. We are interested in what you have made possible: perhaps you have secured significant investment, created an income stream, developed a team, transformed a way of working, built a partnership or turned an overlooked opportunity into something real.

This is a place-based leadership role. Some hybrid working is possible, but you will be substantially based on Mull. Reasonable relocation support may be available and, subject to availability and agreement, temporary accommodation in our shared company house may be available for up to six months.

Salary: £50,000

Contract: Permanent, full time

Location: Substantially Isle of Mull-based

Deadline: 9.00am, Friday 20 November 2026
