A Vase In Relief : Pottery Decorating Workshop
A Special One-Off Pottery Workshop with Patricia Atkinson & Rebecca Atkinson-Lord
This July, join Patricia Atkinson and Rebecca Atkinson-Lord for a special one-off workshop celebrating two generations of potters working within the same ancient craft tradition.
For more than fifty years, Patricia Atkinson ran her pottery studio alongside her husband, John Atkinson, developing a her own unique practice renowned for its nature-inspired sculptural decoration, using leaves, lichens and organic forms to create richly textured ceramic surfaces.
Rebecca learned to pot from her mother and father and continues that inheritance today through her own stoneware practice, rooted in the traditions of Bernard Leach and the beauty of handmade, functional objects.
Each participant will receive a hand-thrown stoneware vase made by Rebecca, ready to decorate under Patricia’s guidance. You will learn techniques for creating three-dimensional clay relief inspired by the natural world, before your piece is glazed and professionally fired, ready to take home.
More than a pottery class, this is an opportunity to learn from a living family tradition and create a unique object shaped by your own hands.
