Deiseil: Dancing in Time is a powerful exploration of stepdance, Scotland’s percussive dance, told through fiddle, feet, Gaelic song and story.

Directed by Gerry Mulgrew, performed by dancer Alison Carlyle and musician Amy Geddes, devised by Alison, Amy and Gerry.

Powerfully explores how stepdance was forgotten in Scotland and kept alive in Cape Breton, and the lifelong friendship woven into its revival here. Groundbreaking new work from award-winning director Gerry Mulgrew, and Deiseil Airson Dannsa founders, dancer Alison Carlyle and musician Amy Geddes. Deiseil means “ready” in Scottish Gaelic: be ready for a mesmerising reflection on issues of culture, identity and connection.
