Bobbi Cameron: without time, without distance, without mind

  • An Tobar Argyll Terrace Tobermory, Isle of Mull United Kingdom (map)
Bobbi Cameron

without time, without distance, without mind is a new sound installation by Bobbi Cameron.

Opening Night Friday 1 April 6-8pm. All welcome.

Cameron has been working with Reiki energy as a means of time travel, creating a method of opening up passages to the future as well as caring for moments of the past. Guided in the process by her late mother Kim and hypnotist and reiki practitioner Elia Diane Fushi Bekene, the installation is both a documentation of that process and an invitation to audiences to travel to their own spaces of resonance.

The sound is a collage of originally composed solfeggio frequencies, archival sound and meditative guidance, a soundscape that travels and shifts throughout the gallery in its own temporal architecture. Painted fabrics hang within the space which hold and guide the sound whilst ghosting the gallery themselves.

The installation is designed to offer a deep listening practice. Cameron works with sonic frequencies which are mathematically attuned to different focal points of the body alongside rhythms, temperatures and material textures to encourage a full body listening experience.
