Within Sight

We are really sorry but this performance has been cancelled due to ill health.

Still reeling from the news that she missed out on making the GB Paralympics team, a young athlete goes out for a run to clear her head. She contemplates what the future holds for her in a society so hostile towards the disabled, now that she’s failed to live up to its incessant expectation of being an inspiration.

Within Sight is poet Ellen Renton’s debut solo show. Based on her experience of living with albinism, Renton’s soft-spoken but hard hitting poetry dismantles ableism, inspiration porn, and the myth of the Paralympics.

☆☆☆☆“Within Sight is an exceptional piece of spoken word theatre, Renton’s performance is honest, self-aware and has clear intentions." ReviewSphere.

'Within Sight' was commissioned and supported by Unlimited, celebrating the work of disabled artists, with funding from Spirit of 2012. The development of the show was supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland. The film of the show was made with funding and support from Unlimited, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and Tramway.
