A Mark in Time - Drawing workshop with Calum Wallis

Artist Calum Wallis will lead a day of drawing in the landscape at Kilninian Beach. While geological change is slow, it can be observed if one looks closely. In this workshop you’ll make drawings which mark a point in time, giving a fixed point against which change can be measured a month, a year or ten years from now.

Over the course of the day you’ll be encouraged to closely observe the rocks and sand, recognising them not as static but in a cycle of change. A series of drawing exercises followed by attentive drawn observation will slow the frantic pace of life down to the geological.

Bring water, a packed lunch, appropriate outdoor clothing and sun cream. Pencils and paper provided - feel free to bring along your own drawing materials if desired. Bring along a camping chair if sitting on rocks and sand for the day sounds uncomfortable - my and my helpers will be happy to carry it down to the beach for you!

Access note - A car is needed to access Kilninian Beach, and it is a 15 minute walk over uneven ground . Nothing too strenuous, but a heads up for those with limited mobility.

Tickets are £20 or £15 concession
